Tang Yong, founder of SCHOLAT（学者网）, is a Professor of the School of Computer Science, South China Normal University, and director of the Virtual Teaching and Research Office for the Data Science Course Group of the Ministry of Education. He is also a National Distinguished Teacher, a National-level Leading Talent (the "Ten-Thousand Talents Program"), and an expert enjoying the Special Government Allowance of the State Council. He is a distinguished scientist of Pazhou Laboratory, executive vice president of the Guangdong Computer Society, and academic vice president of Guangdong University of Science and Technology. His research focuses on data intelligence and academic social networks. He has been awarded the First Prize of Guangdong Provincial Science and Technology Award, the Second Prize of Science and Technology Progress of the Ministry of Education, the Second Prize of National Teaching Achievement Award, the Outstanding Teacher Award of the Ministry of Education-Huawei Intelligent Base, the CCF Outstanding Contribution Award in Collaborative Computing, and the CCF Distinguished Speaker Award, among others.

      He got his bachelor's and master's degrees from Wuhan University, and a doctoral degree from the University of Science and Technology of China, all in computer science. He has previously served as vice dean of the School of Information Science and Technology and director of the Department of Computer Science at Sun Yat-sen University, and vice chairman of the Academic Committee, director of the Teaching Guidance Committee, and dean of the School of Computer Science at South China Normal University. Other academic affiliations include director of the CCF Technical Committee on Collaborative Computing, founding chairman of YOCSEF Guangzhou, chairman of ACM Guangzhou, adjunct professor at Victoria University in Australia, founding director of the Guangdong Service Computing Engineering Center, and honorary chairman of the Guangdong Digital Intelligence Technology Research Association.
