Dr. Tianyong Hao is a full Professor at South China Normal University. He received his Ph.D. degree in Computer Science at City University of Hong Kong in 2010. He visited York University, Canada, in 2008 and Emory University, USA, from 2009 to 2010. After that, he worked as a Research Fellow at City University of Hong Kong from 2010 to 2012. He visited University of New South Wales, Australia, in 2012 and then worked as a Postdoctoral Research Scientist at Columbia University until 2014.
Dr. Hao is an IEEE senior member and members of ISO TC37 committee, SAC TC52 committee, CIPS Youth working committee, CIPS Biomedical Informatics committee, and CCF Chinese Information Technology committee. He also serves as a reviewer for IEEE Transactions on Industry Informatics, ACM Transactions on Intelligent Systems and Technology, KAIS, Journal of Biomedical Informatics, as well as top-tier conferences such as AMIA. He has published more than 70 SCI/EI indexed papers on journals and conferences including TKDE, ACM Trans. on ALIP, Journal of Biomedical Informatics, JAIST, Knowledge-Based Systems, NAACL, WWW etc. He is the PI of 10 invention grants including 2 National Science Foundation of China. He owns 2 proposed international standards issued by ISO, 4 granted invention patents including 1 US patent, 14 national software copyrights, and 6 best paper awards from international conferences.
Research Interests: Natural Language Processing, Text Mining, Question Answering, Medical Informatics.
