My Biography

My English name is hugh. I received the B.S. degree in computer science and the M.S. degree in computer application technology from South China Normal University, Guangzhou, China, in 2008. My early research was on medical image processing and virtual surgery simulation, when I worked with Prof. Susu Bao. I have been a technical adviser in Shenzhen Yorktal Digital Medical Imaging Technology Company Ltd between 2009 and 2010. After 2010, I worked for my Ph.D. degree in pattern recognition and intelligent systems with Prof. Yuanqing Li from South China University of Technology, Guangzhou, China. There, I started my research on signal processing, pattern recognition, and their applications in brain-computer interface.

In 2008, I joined the school of software, South China Normal University, China, where I am now an Associate Professor. I am now focusing on three research areas: 1) brain signal processing, 2) brain-computer interface, 3) hybrid intelligent systems and their applications.

I have published over 70 scientific papers in international journals and conferences such as P IEEEIEEE T NEUR SYS REHIEEE T BIO-MED ENG, IEEE T AFFECT COMPUT, J NEURAL ENG, and SCI REP. My IEEE TBME 2013 paper has been selected as one of ESI highly cited papers in 2018. I won 2011 and 2016 Guangdong Science and Technology Progress Award (8/14 and 5/8), and 2011 Chinese Medical Science and Technology Award (4/11). I was awarded 2017 Guangzhou Pearl River S&T Nova Program, 2014 and 2016 South China Normal University "My Favorite Teacher", and 2017 South China Normal University Excellent Teacher.
